TOGETHER

Every move feels like

the wrong move.

DESCRIPTION/

Visual thinking provides students an opportunity to take a closer look into society to get to know what is happening in the world and what is affecting people’s lives. Many issues occur around the world on a daily basis—some of them are far away while some of them are local. However, these issues could both evoke a persons mind to push him or her to make some changes. For instance, one in eight middle-aged women in the United States has depression, which means that women ages 40 to 59 have the highest rate of depression (12.3 percent) of any group based on age and gender in the U.S., according to the report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This set of information was used to develop the concept of this project—The Fold.

CONCEPT/

The Fold aims to support family members of individuals who are clinically depressed. It focused on family members as well as the patients of depression. People who suffer from depression often require their relative’s help in order to control the condition. The goal of The Fold is to help family members face depression and reduce the difficulty of communication with the patients. Depression is a mental condition that affects both patients and those who take care of them. Factors that cause depression are complicated and can be difficult to determine. Middle-aged women have the highest rate of depression. Depression is not an illness that can be controlled easily by taking medications alone, and the stress could break down the whole family. To treat depression, both patients and involved individuals should take interaction with other people. The Fold focused on how to improve communication between families and patients.
